Look at those tables turning and doors opening! April D. Ryan (49), veteran journalist for American Urban Radio Networks and White House Correspondent, has a new gig.

Ryan has been making headlines as she remains vigilant about the freedom of press in light of the current administration. Back in February, she raised the following questions concerning Donald Trump’s visit to the National Museum of African-American History and Culture:
“What did the president gain from his tour today? You talked about where he visited, the exhibits that he visited. Did he also visit slavery? And the reason why I’m asking this is because when he was candidate Trump, he said things like, you know, ‘We made this country,’ meaning white America, not necessarily black.”
White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, really tried it last week and pissed Black women off nationwide when he told Ryan to stop shaking her head during a live press conference.

And let’s not forget about that time “45” retorted, “Do you want to set up the meeting?”, when Ryan asked if he would meet with the Congressional Black Caucus. These incidents, along with the continued poor treatment of Rep. Maxine Waters, sparked the #BlackWomenAtWork hashtag.
Ryan has covered the White House for over 20 years.
