Great news, Queen Sugar fans!

The hit series has been renewed for its third season, following record-high ratings amid the airing of season 2! Whoop! Director, Ava DuVernay, has also signed on a first-look TV deal with Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios under digital media and television. Under this deal is the 5-part Netflix series currently under development on the Central Park Five.

“I’m so proud of Ava and her ability as a filmmaker to challenge the status quo and push for inclusiveness on screen and behind the camera. I love, love, love the work we have been able to create so far. I am looking forward to developing many more meaningful projects together.” – Oprah Winfrey

The powerhouses, Winfrey and DuVernay, are also working together on Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time project, under DuVernay’s direction.
