Sad news!

BET series, Being Mary Jane, featuring Gabrielle Union, will not be getting a fifth season. The fourth season wrapped up just this past September. To give its dedicated fans a bit of closure, the series will end in a two-hour wrap-up movie finale in 2018.

Being Mary Jane has been a landmark series not only for BET, but for African American women around the world who saw themselves in Mary Jane, her family, friends and coworkers. From the captivating storytelling, to the richly complex characters, to the powerful issues tackled on the series, we remain immensely proud. We are grateful to the cast and creators of Being Mary Jane, who have worked tirelessly to bring this world to vivid life over the past 4 seasons. We also thank the many loyal viewers whose hearts and minds were captured every week, and kept Mary Jane trending worldwide. We look forward to closing out Mary Jane’s journey with a series finale that is sure to blow fans away! – Connie Orlando, BET Networks’ Head of Programming

We hate to see the show go, but know that all good things must come to an end. Hopefully, the wrap-up will encompass all that we have hoped for Mary Jane Paul (MJ) and the other cast of characters. Season 4 left a lot hanging in the balance – MJ’s parents headed for divorce, a proposal from her boyfriend (now fiance’) Justin, and a leading job role for Kara.

We shall see!
