Emmy-Winning Actor, Robert Guillaume, Dies At 89

Emmy award-winning actor, Robert Guillaume, has died at age 89. He earned an Emmy in 1985 for best lead actor in a comedy for ABC spin-off series “Benson” (1979-1886) – where he executed the same character role of butler Benson DuBois from Soap” (1977-1981). Guillaume was also a talented tenor, with dreams of being the first Black tenor to sing at the metropolitan opera.

Some other key roles by Guillaume were in the classic movie Lean On Me, series A Different World, Good Times, and as the voice of Rafiki in The Lion King.

According to his wife, Donna Brown Guillaume, he had complications from prostate cancer, which he had lived with for 25 years.
