Simmons College is paying homage to the late, beloved PBS Newshour and Washington Week journalist, Gwen Ifill, by dedicating a piece of its campus in her name. The Gwen Ifill College of Media, Arts and Humanities is set to launch in the Fall of 2018.

“The kind of unimpeded curiosity Gwen brought to her work, coupled with her warmth, integrity and commitment to truth-telling, is something all of our students aspire to – no matter what field of study they pursue.” – Helen Drinan, President of Simmons College

Ifill was a graduate of the college, earning a bachelors of communications degree in 1977.

It will be one of four new colleges, where approximately 800 students are projected to enroll, under Simmons College’s new programmatic offerings. The new Ifill college is also expected to feature a portion of her overwhelming body of work.
