Essence Acquisition By Essence Ventures, LLC From Time, Inc. Makes It A Completely Black-Owned Company

The year 2018 is already off to a great start. Today was a huge day in black media, as one of our staple publications, ESSENCE, is now a 100% Black-owned and independent company. This comes after its acquisition by independent Black-owned company, Essence Ventures, LLC,, from Time, Inc.

Not only does the deal reestablish Essence as a Black-owned media space, but it’s executive team, consisting of Black women, will own equity stake in the brand. Furthermore, Michelle Ebanks will continue as President, and will also serve on its board of directors.
